This small painting is on a deep canvas, so perfectly suitable for standing on a desk or shelf without the need to hang it. It has a lot of impasto work on the ocean, which creates a feel of a deep and stormy sea. The colours are dark blues which enahce the sense that this is night time, and a strong and dangerous ocean.

Oil paints are mixed with liquin and impasto from impasto paste create depth and as is my style, the painting takes on a life of its own as the light changes around the canvas.
